Hard News from Siena
Early in the morning I woke up to the news I'd been afraid to hear this semester from so far away. I woke up at 7:30, and began to get ready to pick Megan up at the airport when I read a text from my friend Joanna. A close friend, role model and mentor of mine had passed away in the middle of the night. I sank back into my bed and stared at the ceiling for what felt like forever. He had promised to make it until I got back, and being so far away it was an idea I'd held onto. I felt so lost, confused, and helpless. I knew I couldn't face it, I had to push it off and find a distraction. I walked outside to meet John to go to the airport, and could tell he had heard as well. We both just shook our heads and spent the next hour and a half in silence while waiting. Either way, I know Jim Snyder is up there now watching over me and helping me through the rest of the time away from my home and family, and I can't wait to see him again someday. I will miss you Jim.
